Volon fire hydrants: aboveground dry barrel and wet barrel hydrants, and underground hydrants (NFPA 24).
Dry barrel aboveground fire hydrant, Model 701
Dry barrel hydrants are designed mainly for freezing areas, where the water main lies below the frost line. This model is UL listed and FM approved, meets or exceeds AWWA C-502, and is rated for a working pressure of 17.2 bar (250 psi). The flanged inlet is DN150 mm and complies with NFPA 24.
- High performance, easy repair: a breakaway flange and rod coupling prevent leaks and allow easy repair after traffic impact.
- The main valve has a ductile iron core fully covered with EPDM rubber. The nozzle section rotates through 360°. The top of the hydrant can be repaired under pressure.
- There are two drain outlets just above the water main level. The main valve disc is designed to flush the drain channels clear of soil and debris as it opens, and when the hydrant is closed after use, water drains through the drain holes at the base of the barrel.
Wet barrel aboveground fire hydrants, Model FIG7311 / FIG7312
Complies with AWWA C503. 250 psi working pressure, 500 psi test pressure.
- The hydrant barrel is made of high-strength ductile iron (ASTM A536, Class 65-45-12).
- 6" flanged inlet, to the AWWA C110 / ANSI B16.1 Class 125 or ANSI B16.5 Class 150RF bolt pattern.
- Bodies are burst resistant. An optional heavy-duty silicon bronze or stainless steel version is available.
- Every valve assembly has an extra-large-volume rubber seat for better flow and sealing.
- A special epoxy coating inside and out protects against corrosion.
- All nozzles can be removed, with a wide range of nozzle thread options. Available with a check valve assembly. Two-way and three-way outlets comply with NFPA 24.
Underground hydrant, Type 2
The wet barrel underground fire hydrant complies with BS standards, and the water inlet is PN16 flanged.
