C.S.I. S.r.l.

C.S.I. S.r.l. makes high-quality firefighting equipment with a long life and low maintenance needs, even in heavy-duty conditions. Its products are designed for industrial use, especially in oil and gas, chemical, and power generation and storage, on land and at sea, in any harsh environment.

By combining the right choice of materials with expertise, research and continuous product development, C.S.I. aims to win on price, quality and performance against its competitors, in conditions from -50 °C winters to +60 °C summers.

Tank cooling nozzles

KOW model nozzles spread water in a flat curtain pattern and are used to cool storage tanks. They are normally mounted upright at a set distance from the tank's outer wall, and stop the tank absorbing heat radiation when there is a fire nearby. The round outlet with no internal vanes gives the best resistance to clogging, and so high reliability. They come in brass and stainless steel. The connection is DN 15 (½") NPT or BSP thread, and the flow is factory-calibrated up to a metric K factor of 95 l/min·bar½.

Monitors

MML lever-operated manual monitors are made of stainless steel for 2½" to 4" waterways and flows up to 7,000 l/min. With unlimited horizontal movement and no dead spot, they are used where extinguishing water or foam must be aimed quickly at the fire source.

A monitor body usually has two swivel joints for horizontal and vertical aiming. The smooth inner passage lowers pressure losses, and a standard joint has two bearing races with balls held in an oil bath, sealed with O-rings at inlet and outlet.

C.S.I. also makes vertical or low-profile monitors to the customer's requirements, to reduce the leverage of reaction forces on the base they are mounted on. Low-profile models suit trailer-mounted use, where reaction forces are critical for the stability of the trailer, and hydrant-mounted installations, where they reduce the moments applied to the hydrant structure. Maximum range is reached at an elevation of 30–32°.

The discharge pattern depends on the liquid and the device: a straight jet gives maximum range, while a spray pattern gives wider coverage and gentler application on the protected surface. Foam monitors are designed to give their best performance with a defined foam concentrate from a single manufacturer; FP and FFFP-AR concentrates give a different spray pattern from AFFF or synthetic concentrates.
