Coupling choice depends on whether the line must move. Flexible couplings absorb misalignment, vibration, thermal expansion and seismic movement. Rigid couplings hold the line fixed like a flanged or welded joint. See Rigid or flexible? for how to choose.
| Model | Type | Size range | Working pressure |
|---|---|---|---|
| XGQT2 | Light flexible coupling | 25–600 mm (1"–24") | 20 bar (300 psi) |
| 1212 | Heavy-duty flexible coupling | 32–300 mm (1¼"–12") | 35 bar (500 psi) |
| XGQT1 | Rigid coupling (tongue-and-groove) | 32–406 mm (1¼"–16") | 20 bar (300 psi) |
| XGQT4 | Rigid push-on coupling | 32–200 mm (1¼"–8") | 20 bar (300 psi) |
| 31HP | Extra-heavy rigid coupling | 50–300 mm (2"–12") | 55–70 bar (800–1000 psi) |
| 1100 | Ring joint coupling | 200–600 mm (8"–24") | 20 bar (300 psi) |
| HDP | Plain-end HDPE coupling | 63–315 mm (2"–12") | limited by pipe SDR |
Model XGQT2 – light flexible coupling
The standard flexible coupling for general medium-pressure piping. It absorbs misalignment, thermal stress, vibration and noise, and withstands seismic movement. Even a slightly curved line can be designed with these couplings.
Model 1212 – heavy-duty flexible coupling
Designed for medium and high pressure lines. The actual working pressure is mostly set by the wall thickness of the pipe used. It has the same flexibility advantages as XGQT2.
Model XGQT1 – rigid coupling
The tongue-and-groove (T&G) design locks the joint. It is used where rigidity is needed in medium-pressure applications such as valve connections, mechanical rooms, fire mains and long straight runs.
Model XGQT4 – rigid push-on coupling
A truly rigid coupling that allows no axial, angular or rotational movement under normal operating conditions. Pipe ends must be square cut. Hanger and support requirements comply with ANSI B31.1, B31.9 and NFPA 13.
Model 31HP – extra-heavy rigid coupling
For high-pressure lines at 55–70 bar (800–1000 psi), with wide housing keys and heavy-duty bolts and nuts. Bolts must be tightened to the specified torque to achieve rigidity.
Model 1100 – ring joint coupling
Used where roll grooving the pipe is not safe or welding is not preferred. The ring contact area is much wider than a roll groove, giving a stronger hold.
HDP series – plain-end HDPE coupling
Joins HDPE and polybutylene pipe mechanically, with no heat fusion, solvent cement or special adapters. A sharp tooth array grips the pipe and a C-shaped gasket seals the ends. Not designed for PVC pipe. The pressure limit is set by the SDR of the pipe being joined.
